Squarespace Courses: How to Create a Profitable Course

Got a skill you want to share with the world? Why not make money by creating an online course?

Squarespace Courses is a fantastic way to create and sell a professional online course to your followers. Here’s how to get started and how to optimize your course to bring in the sales!

Is Squarespace Courses free?

You can create a Squarespace course on any pricing plan. However, if you want to sell your course, you need a Business or Commerce plan. Bear in mind that you only get 30 minutes of video storage with a Business or Commerce plan, which isn’t a lot!

The good news is that you can buy a digital product add-on, starting from $9 a month. This gives you more storage space, as well as additional features like analytics, reduced transaction fees and the ability to offer course discounts.

Step 5: Monetize your course

The final step is to create a pricing plan for your course. To do this, go to your course page panel and choose Pricing Plans. You can charge a flat rate, set up a subscription, or offer your course for free. You can also bundle multiple courses together in the same pricing plan.

Your course will then be placed behind a paywall. I recommend setting up a page on your website that links to your course so people can learn more before buying!

My top tips for creating Squarespace courses people want to enrol on

1. Know your target audience

Think about your target audience before you start building your course content. This will help you understand the needs and goals of your students and develop lessons that deliver what they want

2. Build a marketing list

If you offer a free course, make your content accessible in exchange for contact information. This is a great way to build a marketing list and find potential customers for your products and services

3. Take inspiration from others

Look at similar courses your competitors offer. What price do they charge? What lesson plans do they have in place? How engaging are the videos they promote?

4. Engage with your students

Build a community around your course and provide support to your students. This is especially important if you offer a subscription as you want to encourage people to stay signed up. Send regular emails, be responsive to questions, and set up a forum or Facebook group where students can communicate with each other

5. Market your course

Don’t forget to market your course to drive traffic to your site. You can do this through search engine optimization, reaching out to your email subscribers, or using an online editing tool to edit video online for social media to market through videos. Go where your target audience is!

6. Up to date content

Keep your course up to date – this ensures the content remains fresh and that students learn accurate information

7. Use analytics

Track your analytics to see which courses are most popular and what marketing channels customers use to access your website. This will give you a clear steer as to where to prioritize your marketing efforts

While creating a Squarespace course is a simple way to make passive income, there is a lot of preparation to do beforehand. You need to plan your course structure, film your videos, and decide how much to charge.

It might sound like a lot, but trust me, the results are well worth it!
