How to Connect Mailchimp to Squarespace in 2 Minutes (2024)

How to connect Mailchimp to Squarespace

Looking for a cost-effective way to get more sales and raise brand awareness? Email marketing is the way forward!

Email marketing is one of the best channels around when it comes to getting a great return on investment. For every dollar you spend, you get $36 in return.

MailChimp is my favorite email marketing platform currently available. And the good news is that you can connect it to your Squarespace site in less than a minute.

Here’s how to add Mailchimp to Squarespace in two different ways. You can add Mailchimp to both Squarespace 7.0 and Squarespace 7.1, but you will need a Squarespace Commerce or Business plan.

Want more Squarespace integrations to enhance your website? Here are 17 fantastic plugins and customizations to get you started!

What you need to do before you start adding Mailchimp to Squarespace

Step 1: Before you start, set up a Mailchimp account. You can sign up for free – this lets you have 500 contacts and send up to 1,000 emails a month.

Step 2: You’ll also need to set up a list (sometimes known as an audience) where the contact details you collect will be stored.

Option 1: How to Add Mailchimp to a Form Block or Newsletter Block

You can use Mailchimp to store customer email addresses – perfect if you want to send them your newsletter or your latest special offers!

Set up your form or newsletter block in Squarespace, click the EDIT button and choose Storage. Next, select Mailchimp, and you’ll be prompted to enter your Mailchimp login details. When you’ve done this, choose the list which you want to add your contacts to.

The form you create to capture data must be less than 30 fields, and each field title must be less than 255 characters; otherwise Mailchimp won’t work. You may also experience issues if you connect multiple forms to a single list. If this happens, make sure each block you use is entirely identical.

Option 2: How to Add Mailchimp at Checkout (only eCommerce)

If you sell online, you can encourage customers to sign up for your email newsletter at checkout with a tap of a button. This is a great way to capture their contact details and send offers to tempt them into a repeat purchase!

Go to the cart and checkout panel and turn on email signup. Next, click email signup settings and click connect beside Mailchimp. Enter your login details, and choose the list you want to add your contacts to.

Next, go to checkbox label and customize the text that encourages customers to subscribe.

You can also toggle select checkbox by default to determine whether the signup button is checked automatically or whether your customer has to click it to subscribe. I recommend keeping it turned off to comply with regulations like GDPR.

Congratulations! You now know how to connect Mailchimp to Squarespace in two different ways. Why not give it a try and start building your online mailing list today?
