Linking Google Workspace with Squarespace: A Simple Guide
Google has a fantastic suite of cloud-based tools that make our day-to-day lives easier, from putting our important dates in Google Calendar to storing all our files in Google Drive!
If you run a business, Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite) is a fantastic way to streamline your business tasks and make sure your team is always in the loop. Plus, you can link it up to your Squarespace site, meaning you can manage tasks without having to leave your website.
Another benefit of Google Workspace is that you can set up a Squarespace business email, making it easy to manage your messages on the go. This is one of the easiest ways to set up a custom email address on your Squarespace site.
So how can you integrate Squarespace with Google Workspace? Let’s take a look.
Why should I link Squarespace with Google Workspace?
Google Workspace is a collection of tools, including Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Chat, and Google Meet. While these tools are free for personal use, Google Workspace provides additional functionality, for example, the ability to have 100-plus participant video meetings.
You also get access to the business version of Gmail, meaning you can get a custom email for your company, like hello@sparkplugin.com, rather than the standard @gmail.com or @gmail.co.uk one.
If you love the ease of use of Google’s suite of tools, it’s a great alternative to cloud tools like Microsoft 365.
How to link Squarespace with Google Workspace in 3 steps
Here is how to link Squarespace to Google Workspace. Google Workspace does guide you through the process, but if you’re not confident in your tech abilities, it’s worth having your web developer or someone from your IT team on standby.
Step 1
Before you begin, make sure your Squarespace website is public, enabled, and not password protected.
You must also ensure that your domain is verified and doesn’t include any special characters.
Step 2
Go to the Google Workspace Panel, or click Settings > Google Workplace in the Home menu.
Choose the plan you want to apply to your account, as well as whether you want to pay monthly or annually. Bear in mind that you can’t switch to a different pricing plan or billing cycle once you’ve signed up, so choose carefully.
You’ll then be asked to register your details, including your contact information. The account you create will have administrator permissions, meaning it has complete control over the Google Workspace account.
Step 3
Next, access the email address you entered when signing up to get your temporary password. Log in and accept the terms of service.
You’ll then need to verify your Google Workspace domain and add your Mail Exchange (MX) records so it can send and receive emails. These should already be added if you signed up through Squarespace, but if not, you can add them manually.
Once this is done, you’re all set! You can add more users and start sending emails from your shiny new email address.

However, if you are using a third-party email provider, you can set up a Google Workspace account through Squarespace and migrate it across. This guide will show you how to do it.
