My favorite Squarespace portfolio examples

Did you know that nearly three million websites around the world use Squarespace? If you’re looking for a simple portfolio package that’s easy to use and has built-in security, it’s the one to beat!

Here are some of the nicest Squarespace portfolio sites around to get you inspired. Whether you want something basic and clean or want to go all out, you’ll find lots of good ideas here!

1. Dominic Ruth

There’s something very Gen-Z about this site that I really like, from the clear and simple design to the fancy logo. Dominic’s portfolio looks fresh and funky and looks great on mobile too, meaning prospective clients can check out the site on the go!

Did you spot the Glassmorphism header at the top of the page? It looks like frosted glass and is fantastic if you want to give your Squarespace portfolio site a nod to the famous Apple design!

2. Kolea

A portfolio site doesn’t have to be complex. The Kolea site is fantastic, as everything is right there on the homepage. Just click to get more info about a particular project!

If you hover over the images, you get an overlay saying who the work was for – ideal when this isn’t obvious from just looking!

3. Harper Sunday

The Squarespace portfolio sites we’ve seen so far are minimalist and plain – ideal for putting the portfolio work at the forefront of the website. However, that’s not a prerequisite – your portfolio site can be as fancy as you want!

The Harper Sunday site is colorful and full-on, but this perfectly suits the brand’s aesthetic. Check out the rounded text blocks that draw attention to the extensive range of clients Harper Sunday has.

4. Balazs Fodor Photography

A portfolio site works well if you’re a photographer, as Squarespace offers many different ways you can show off your images, from grid galleries to carousels. The design of this website puts the stunning photos front and center.

I love the use of the scroll indicator customization, which encourages visitors to keep scrolling down the page to find what they need. Sometimes your web visitors need a little friendly nudge in the right direction!

5. Darren Booth

When you have a lot of work to show off, you might wonder how best to do this without cluttering your website. I like the approach Darren Booth has taken, with the main categories on the home page, which follow through to the main portfolio pages.

6. Kurly Creative

Kurly Creative says it builds bold brands with beauty, brains, and personality, and this is evidently true looking at its bright and colorful site! There is a lot going on here, but as the brand reuses a lot of imagery through the website, it works well.

It’s always good to understand your target audience and what they want to see from your portfolio site. If they favor the fun and lively, why not go with it?

7. PICA

Your portfolio site can also double up as an eCommerce store, and PICA is a brilliant combination of the two. I like how PICA has taken advantage of Squarespace’s functionality to show two different images, one of the print, and the other of the print in a frame.

(A lot of Squarespace’s portfolio templates can be used for both portfolio and eCommerce sites; we’ll look at some fantastic examples later.)

8. Burningred

A portfolio site doesn’t just work for freelancers and solopreneurs; digital marketing agencies can use them too. If you’ve worked with a wide range of awesome clients, why not show them off?

Burningred has cleverly added a shadow effect to the images in its portfolio. This makes them stand out and adds a level of gravitas – great if you work with clients like educational establishments and charities.

Another Squarespace portfolio site that says no to minimalism; I love the bright colors and playful design of this site. Some of the client images are even animated, adding to the fun and whimsical feel!

10. Tiny Coast Digital

3D website designs are in vogue at the moment, and this agency website is bang on trend! The navy blue background and bright colors shouldn’t work, but they go together really well.

Did you know this website uses an adaptive logo? This automatically changes the logo from dark to light, saving valuable design time and meaning your logo can always be seen.
